TOTAL = 50 credits *(If the language used to fulfill the University language requirement is non-Indo-European, the student may choose any other language for this requirement.) The following languages qualify as non-Indo-European: Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Turkish, Hungarian, Hebrew, Vietnamese, and American Sign Language. Please contact the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures to find appropriate course offerings/schedules. All courses used to satisfy the department major requirements, whether taken in the department or elsewhere, must be graded C or above. Courses taken under the undifferentiated grading option (Pass/No Pass) are not acceptable toward fulfilling department requirements. No later than the end of the first quarter after starting in the program, the student is required to consult with an Applied Linguistics adviser to select the appropriate courses and areas of concentration. The entire program must be approved by the adviser who has to sign the Linguistics Major Approval Form, which has to be turned in to the Department.
